Christian Kölzow worked out the entire formalism mathematically and programmed it during the 1990’s. The programs are being continuously developed according to the specific demands of the projects. This particularly applies to the stereographic projection of three-dimensional plan data and the numerical procedures that are applied to this data, which are used to calculate the surface integrals for determining solid angles (this being the main variable in light technology calculations), which were previously determined by “counting patches”.
During this time the development of project-specific algorithms for the feedback control of light was added to the institute’s portfolio in the course of building automation development.
